Unable to work following a spine disability, I started making jewelry over 15 years ago, hence the name.
I had been making jewelry for many years and would often find myself wishing I had a particular bead. So when I found out about a beginner lampwork class at the local art league I jumped on it and was immediately hooked. I've never looked back.
While I still make the occasional piece(s) of jewelry, my focus is on making beads. I get inspiration mostly from nature; ocean, sand, beach, flowers, etc. It's such joy to open the kiln in the morning to see the finished beads from the day before.
It is my hope that my beads will inspire your creativity in your jewelry.

1,500 Fan Giveaway!
No, I am NOT giving away 1,500 fans!! Now, that would be silly of me, no? I am CELEBRATING the fact that I have 1,500 + fans on my facebook page! Seems like only yesterday I was celebrating 1,000. :)
Rather than having people jump through hoops for this giveaway, I decided to give away a bead of my choice to 1 lucky winner on my facebook fan page. I used a random name generator, which came up with the name Lila. I have 2 fans named Lila, so I tossed a coin & Lila Guenther won! Here's what's on it's way to Lila's mailbox as we speak.

Independence Day
Independence Day means different things to different people. First and foremost, we need to all be grateful for the liberties afforded us in this (still) wonderful country. However, I'm not a political person and don't wish to use this as a format for political things, so let's get on to the fun stuff. :-)
Hubby and I took a little mini vacation this week to our favorite place...the beach! We have a little place we rent out for the summer, but only managed to get August rented so we were lucky enough to use it ourselves this summer for the 1st time. As an added bonus, there were fireworks across the bay last night. We sat on our deck and watched the light show despite the clouds.
This morning, we woke up to a beautiful, sunny day. We went exploring to the North Fork of Long Island. Had a lovely breakfast at Love Lane Kitchen in Mattituck. We then went to Catapano Dairy Farm hoping to bring bring home some of their delicious freshly made goat cheese. But we forgot to bring a cooler & couldn't chance keeping the cheese in the car for the ride home in this heat. We enjoyed visiting the goats & their lovely grounds. Will have to go back another time to purchase some delicious cheese.
Our next stop was to our favorite Long Island Winery, Laurel Lakes. Had a little wine tasting and of course made a purchase to bring home. Very nice folks and delicious wines.
Hmmm.....what will tomorrow bring? I'm guessing a relaxing day at the beach is in store.
