I'm back!!!

After 3 months I finally got back on the torch last night. These beads are the result.Only 1 casualty and another that took a bath. Not too bad all things considered.

As you may or may not know, I had spine surgery back in September and have been unable to torch as a result. The Dr. gave me the go ahead to give it a try at my 1 month follow up, but something told me he didn't really understand what was involved. I was still wearing a cervical collar at that point, which kept my head and neck from moving at all, so the thought of trying to torch while hot glass could go flying didn't seem like the best idea since I couldn't move much.

Now that I don't have to wear a cervical collar any more, I decided to give it a try. Boy, was it FUN! I felt like a little kid. I made some of my "usual" beads (won't call them signature because I don't consider myself that accomplished yet) and then tried out some new techniques and an awesome new tool I had purchased. Life is good.

Welcome back! Glad the healing is going well :-)

These are beautiful - not even counting the fact you haven't torched in months! Love the colors :-)

glad you're feeling better. I love the spiral beads, the colors are speaking to me!!

Thanks so much! The yellow flower is a custom order for someone & the large blue/green focal is a standard bead for me. I LOVE making those & the smaller round ones. I need to make more next time.

Thanks Dee! That was supposed to be a set, 4 ribbed bicones & the larger ribbed focal, but alas 1 of the bicones cracked when I took it off the mandrel. Will definitely be making more of those so LMK if you want some.

Oh ow on the spine surgery! I will need it eventually. My husband had neck vertebrae fused and that healed up well for him but mine are all lower back so I'm dodging the doc!

Mine was on my neck too Lori. Had 3 levels fused this time, 1 level 13 years ago.

It's just over 3 months now & I'm finally feeling relief. I'm even driving again! Life is good! I must say though that it was really tough going in the beginning. What a difference a few weeks make.
